Building a career across the many different facets of a financial organisation gives you a pretty thorough idea about how money works. This was certainly the case for Carey in the years before the launch of Mortgage People (at the time Property Pack) in 1989.

“In my early career I took whatever opportunity I could to broaden my understanding of the whole picture. I wanted to understand the detail that makes this money system – a system that plays such a big role in our lives – work,” says Carey.

As someone who is tirelessly interested in how a tweak here and adjustment there in the accepted thinking could deliver positive change for consumers, Carey has regularly been part of driving change in the industry.

“This is a great industry that we work in. What we do – when done well – can truly have a lasting, positive impact. In our book, we should always be looking for ways to improve what we do.”

“We’ve always believed in challenging the accepted thinking and looking for new ways that financial products can best meet the needs of Kiwis. It continues to be THE big reason for doing what we do.”

Glenn has worked in financial advice for as long as he can remember, but says the one thing that hasn’t changed, is the pivotal role of relationships.

“I think if you genuinely like working out solutions and working with all kinds of people, you really can’t go wrong in this industry,” says Glenn. “That’s what Carey and I did when we started out two and a half decades ago – we knew everyone in our area and we built lasting relationships.”

Glenn and Carey started Mortgage People – at the time under the trading name Property Pack – in 1989, after many years working with other financial organisations.

“When we took over the reigns of Property Pack, there really was very little in the way of residential mortgage broking.

But it was definitely needed. There was a real lack of understanding between lenders and borrowers, so we basically became the facilitators of that conversation.”

And that was very much at the beginning of the mortgage advice industry – an industry that Glenn says continues to be both interesting and gratifying to work in 28 years later.

“We’ve seen many things in our time – watched companies come and go; banks change and borrowers get savvier.

But regardless of all the industry moves, we’re still simply in the job of helping people make things happen. And that is a real pleasure to come to work to do.”

I love my job as it allows me to help people with a very integral part of their life, and with something that many people can find a difficult process. My objective is to help you through the process in a smooth and stress free way to deliver you the best outcome.
I have completed a Bachelor of Business majoring in Economics and Finance, and recently completed my Honours in Economics, including writing my dissertation on the upcoming Auckland Unitary plan.
Prior to joining Mortgage People, I spent four years working for one of the major banks as a Personal Banker. During which I gained experience in several different types of lending such as residential, low deposit, business, bridging and construction. I am able to walk you through the entire process from start to finish to achieve your desired outcome.

My business is really exciting in that I deal with a broad range of clients. In the morning I could be making a presentation to a boardroom for a large commercial deal and that evening helping clients into their very first home. Every day is busy, dynamic and rewarding with never a dull moment.

I’ve been with Mortgage People for 15 years, and involved in the finance industry both in New Zealand and abroad for more than 30 years. My clients are mainly professionals, however with my industry history I facilitate both retail and commercial lending requirements. I also have a unique specialisation in the Health Sector – I’m the only broker that works full time in this field – which ensures I provide true value to the industry.

I’m a keen sportsperson who loves cycling, cross fit and running and the proud dad of four fantastic children.

One of the most important aspects of my service is to ensure my clients have a thorough understanding of their situation and what will work best for them now and in the future. It’s just one of the ways I can help save thousands over the terms of their home loans.

I’ve been a mortgage adviser with Mortgage People for 21 years. During this time I’ve helped many home buyers get into their first (and subsequent) homes and have become an expert at navigating the minefield of construction lending. I also have a large client base of investors and commercial buyers.

My help doesn’t stop once the mortgage is approved. I provide an ongoing service, so for example, if there’s any change to interest rates I’m here to advise clients of what it means to them. Access to the latest and best market information and a commitment to ongoing support, means my clients get all the facts they need to make decisions that work for them.

Siwen joined Mortgage People in 2003 as a residential mortgage broker; after having spent some eight years with the ASB Bank. Siwen is a very skilled residential mortgage broker, extremely efficient at servicing her client’s needs. Siwen participates in ongoing lender training to ensure her clients receive the best possible advice and personal mortgage finance that they want and deserve. Siwen holds a Certificate in Interpretation – speaking fluent English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

I’ve been in the business a long time – 16 years – and in this time have learned the ins and outs of the mortgage market and the importance of keeping up with the latest developments so I always get the best deal for my clients. 

With another 20-years’ experience in banking and seven years’ in real estate, I offer my clients a 360-degree view of the lending and property market; with the majority of my clients being referrals from my existing client base and my network of solicitors.

When I’m not helping clients I like to exercise my vocal chords as a concert singer and performer, and I’m also a keen sportsman who’s probably better suited to armchair commentary.
